On the morning of January 23, 2024, as part of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russian troops launched a missile attack on Ukraine, using cruise and ballistic missiles, and the Ukrainian Air Defense Forces shot down 21 out of 41 missiles. Kyiv, Kharkiv, Pavlohrad, Balakliya and Shostka were shelled.
